The Max Stripe is one of the newest models in Odyssey’s Ai-ONE “Square 2 Square” putter line. It’s a mallet-style, centre-shafted (stroke-balanced) putter, designed to stay “square” through the stroke (i.e. resist twisting/face rotation). Compared to older toe-hang putters, it emphasises balance, stability and consistency over style or feel of face rotation.
The Max Stripe differs from the “Max 1” sibling mainly by having a bold white alignment stripe on the top — a visual aid to help you line up putts more precisely.
Key Features
-
Ultra-High MOI (Moment of Inertia) — The Max Stripe has one of the largest, most stable heads in the Square 2 Square family, giving extreme resistance to twisting and helping keep the putter face square even on off-centre hits.
-
Centre-Shafted, Toe-Up / Zero-Torque Design — The shaft is mounted at the putter head’s center of gravity. That gives a “toe-up” balance so the head naturally sits in a neutral position; the design helps reduce face rotation through the stroke. Built-in Forward Shaft Lean (Forward Press) — The shaft has a slight forward lean (~3.3°) which presets the hands ahead and helps prevent the face from opening at impact.
-
AI-Designed Face Insert for Consistent Roll — Uses Odyssey’s Ai-ONE insert: an aluminium-backed “White Hot” urethane face, engineered (with AI-assisted design) to produce consistent ball speed across the entire face — so mishits still roll more like centre hits.
-
Alignment Assistance — The “Stripe” model has a bold white alignment stripe on top of the head (from face to rear) to help with visual alignment and setup — useful for golfers who want clear, repeatable aim.
-
Tour-Inspired Mallet Shape & Oversize Grip — The large head profile gives a stable footprint behind the ball; paired with a roomy grip it aims to improve stroke consistency and tempo.
